Manhattan Attorney D. Carl Lustig III Named To Medical Malpractice Advisory Committee

The Manhattan law firm of Arye, Lustig & Sassower, P.C., is pleased to announce that a member of the firm has been asked to advise the Supreme Court in New York County on medical malpractice issues. D. Carl Lustig III will join the newly created Medical Malpractice Advisory Committee for the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County.

Mr. Lustig was invited to the advisory committee by the First Judicial District Administrative Judge for Civil Matters, Sherry Klein Heitler. The committee is comprised of justices who preside over Supreme Court medical malpractice trials and attorneys who actively try medical malpractice cases. It will provide advice on and solutions to the myriad procedural and logistical issues that have arisen, and that will continue to arise, in pending and future medical malpractice cases in New York County.

“I am honored to be asked to join this prestigious committee,” Lustig said. “Redress of injuries and damages resulting from medical malpractice in the courts is extremely important and highly complex litigation. I look forward to working toward formulating solutions that help attorneys and judges effectively try medical malpractice cases in New York County in a manner that is fair to all parties involved.”

Lustig, who has practice law in New York for more than 30 years, concentrates in the trials and appeals of major personal injury cases. In addition to medical malpractice cases, he represents injury victims in construction accident cases, product liability cases, bicycle accident cases and other personal injury matters.

He has written law review articles for legal periodicals such as the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute and Trial Lawyers Quarterly, and lectured on trial advocacy, alternative dispute resolution and other legal matters. He is a member of numerous legal associations and is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
